Determinate red cherry tomato
description
Red cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
The Red Determinate Cherry Tomato is an heirloom variety producing small, sweet fruits of about 1 ounce, perfect for snacking and container gardening. Its sweet flavor and abundance make it a favorite with children and both novice and experienced gardeners. Being a determinate variety, it maintains a compact shape while offering a generous and uniform harvest.
Height: 40 to 50 cm
Spacing: 30 to 35 cm
Sowing: Indoor sowing
Exposure: Full sun
Growth type: Determinate
Quantity per packet: 200 to 250 seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, lightly covering the seeds with potting soil. Maintain a temperature of 22 to 24°C for rapid germination in 5 to 10 days. Provide bright light and transplant when the seedlings show their first true leaves.
Transplant after the last frost, spacing the plants 30 to 35 cm apart in rich, well-drained soil. The determinate growth habit reduces the need for staking, although light support can help hold the fruit clusters. Water regularly at the base and mulch to retain moisture.
This compact and productive red cherry tomato is ideal for small gardens, terraces or pots.
