Red pear tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

The Red Pear tomato produces large, uniform, pear-shaped fruits with a vibrant, bright red color and firm, sweet flesh. The fruits average 12 to 14 ounces, a remarkable size for this type, while the vigorous plants bear abundantly throughout the season. An indeterminate variety, it is prized for its versatility, productivity, and increased disease resistance.

Height: 55 to 65 cm
Spacing: 35 to 45 cm
Sowing: Indoor sowing
Exposure: Full sun
Growth type: Indeterminate
Quantity per packet: 200 to 250 seeds, untreated, non-GMO

Cultivation method:

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, covering the seeds with a thin layer of light potting soil. Maintain a temperature of 22 to 24°C for germination in 5 to 10 days and provide bright light to prevent leggy growth. Transplant into individual pots when the seedlings show their first true leaves.

Transplant outdoors after the last frost, spacing the plants 35 to 45 cm apart in rich, loose, and well-amended soil. Provide sturdy support for the long, productive stems. Water regularly at the base of the plants and mulch to retain moisture and reduce the risk of foliar diseases.

This red pear tomato is distinguished by its excellent flavor, its unusual size for a pear tomato, and its great versatility in the kitchen.
