Organic Yukina Savoy Asian green (Brassica rapa ‘Yukina Savoy’) is an open-pollinated organic Asian leafy vegetable closely related to tatsoi. It forms an upright rosette of dark green glossy rounded deeply savoyed leaves on fleshy light-green petioles. Firm texture remains tender when young and mild flavour resembles a very gentle mustard. Baby leaves enrich salads and mixed greens while mature rosettes cook quickly by steaming or stir-frying and in soups as a substitute for spinach or pak choi.
Direct sow in spring as soon as soil can be worked, then again in late summer for fall harvest. Plants may also be started approximately three weeks before setting out.
