The Giant Red Mangel 1790 is a heritage variety, perfect for feeding cattle and pigs with its enormous reddish roots measuring 25 to 38 cm in diameter. Grown similarly to beets, these mangels grow exceptionally large. Not recommended for human consumption, this crop provides a high-yield and nutritious option for livestock feed.

How to Grow:

Direct sow seeds 12 mm deep, spacing them 2.5 cm apart, with rows 60 cm apart. Sow every two weeks from mid-spring to late June for continuous harvests. Once seedlings emerge, thin them to 25 cm spacing. These plants thrive in full sun and mature in 80 to 90 days. Germination occurs in 7 to 14 days. A single packet sows approximately 3.7 meters (12 feet) of row.

The Giant Red Mangel 1790 is a hardy, easy-to-grow crop, ideal for farmers seeking high-yield root feed for their livestock.
