This heirloom variety of butterhead lettuce forms a beautiful, dense head of creamy yellow-green leaves, delicately edged in red when temperatures are cool. The leaves are tender, slightly crisp, and offer a mild, refined flavor that is much appreciated. Cold-hardy and decorative, it can be grown in both spring and fall for regular harvests.

Planting and maintenance:
Sow as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, then repeat every two weeks as long as the weather remains cool. Sow approximately 3 mm deep, in rows spaced 45 cm apart or in clumps, in rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Maintain consistent moisture to encourage even growth and a tender texture. Thin the seedlings to about 30 cm to allow for the formation of good-sized heads and harvest before bolting to preserve sweetness.
