Organic 'Oregon Sugar Pod' peas (Pisum sativum), offered by the seed company Aimers

This open-pollinated variety of snap pea produces long, flat, fleshy, light green pods that are usually stringless when harvested young. The vigorous plants climb to about 80 cm and offer a regular, abundant yield. Highly prized for its tender texture and mild flavor, it is ideal for stir-fries, steaming, or eating fresh.

Propagation: Direct sowing in spring or late summer
Plant height: 80 to 90 cm
Package size: Approximately 50 seeds
Harvest time: Approximately 65 days
Frost tolerance: Can withstand light frost
Companion plants: Carrots, radishes, cucumbers
Incompatible plants: Onions, garlic

Planting and maintenance:
Sow as soon as the soil temperature reaches approximately 10 to 16°C, at a depth of 1.25 to 2.5 cm, in rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Space the seeds about 6.5 cm apart and provide a support for easier harvesting. Maintain consistent moisture, especially during flowering and pod formation. Harvest frequently to encourage continuous production and preserve a tender texture.
