Amelanchier × grandiflora 'Ballerina', also known as the 'Ballerina' serviceberry, is a refined ornamental selection, recognized for its graceful spring bloom of starry white clusters, reminiscent of the lightness of a tutu. Its new copper-tinged foliage turns dark green in summer, then blazes into yellow, orange, and vibrant red in autumn. It produces small, edible purplish-red then blackish fruits, much appreciated by birds. Its naturally rounded, airy, and balanced habit, as well as its moderate growth, make it an ideal ornamental tree for a solitary planting, in a free-growing hedge, or integrated into a naturalistic garden. Very hardy and undemanding, 'Ballerina' easily adapts to Quebec conditions, while offering floral, fruit, and autumnal interest in an elegant and versatile format.
