Family Berberidaceae

Berberis thunbergii 'Concorde', or Japanese barberry 'Concorde', is a dwarf shrub with a very compact habit, valued for its deep purple, almost black foliage, which brings remarkable colour depth to landscapes. Its naturally globular and dense form makes it an excellent choice for low borders, rock gardens, miniature hedges, or container cultivation. In spring, small pale yellow flowers appear discreetly, followed by decorative red berries that contrast beautifully with the dark foliage. Very tolerant and undemanding, 'Concorde' maintains a neat appearance without pruning and offers a clean and durable structure, ideal for creating elegant and contemporary contrasts in the garden.
