Farming method
Sow indoors 8 to 12 weeks before the last frost date. Germination usually takes 7 to 14 days at an optimal temperature of 23 to 30°C. Once the seedlings are well established, transplant them outdoors when daytime temperatures reach 18°C and nighttime temperatures exceed 10°C.
Plant at a depth of 6 mm (1/4"). Space plants 45 to 60 cm (18 to 24") apart and rows 75 to 90 cm (30 to 36") apart. Choose a location in full sun (level 3) with regular and generous watering (level 3). The plants thrive in rich, well-drained soil. Their natural vigor promotes rapid growth and consistent fruit development.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest the eggplants when their skin is glossy and a thumbprint leaves no mark. The fruit will keep for about a week at 10-12°C, with a humidity level around 90%.
