Farming method

Sow directly outdoors as soon as the ground is workable, or start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before planting . Sow at a depth of 0.6 to 1.2 cm , spacing plants 45 to 60 cm apart and rows 75 to 90 cm apart , in rich, deep, well-drained soil .

Brussels sprouts prefer full sun (level 3) and moderate watering (level 2) . Cool temperatures promote sprout quality and improve flavor.

Harvesting and preservation

The cabbages begin forming at the base of the stem . When the heads reach approximately 2.5 to 3 cm in diameter , the tops can be pinched to encourage even ripening of the upper heads, although this variety can produce without topping. Harvest progressively from the bottom up. Store at 1 to 2°C , with approximately 95% humidity , for 3 to 5 weeks . The cabbages can also be frozen after blanching.
