Organic Savoy cabbage 'Deadon Savoy'
Organic Savoy cabbage 'Deadon Savoy' (Brassica oleracea) from the seed company Gaia, a colorful and sweet hybrid variety for cooler seasons
The Savoy cabbage 'Deadon Savoy' forms robust, well-structured plants , producing solid, medium-sized heads wrapped in pinkish-purple Savoyard outer leaves , delicately dusted with grey . This decorative coloration intensifies markedly with the autumn chill , giving the plant strong visual appeal. Inside, the dense, tender, light green leaves offer a fine texture and a very sweet flavor with a pronounced aftertaste , particularly appreciated in cooler weather.
The heads typically weigh 1.5 to 2.7 kg and measure 15 to 25 cm in diameter , combining aesthetic appeal with culinary quality. Highly cold-tolerant and tested negative for clubroot (BR) and black blight (BL) , this hybrid cabbage is reliable for late-season harvests. The outer leaves are often used as a garnish , while the heart is ideal for salads , coleslaw , and cooked dishes.

Sow at a depth of 1.2 cm (½ inch ), spacing the plants 25 to 45 cm (10 to 18 inches) apart depending on the desired size , with rows 60 to 90 cm (24 to 36 inches) apart, in rich, moist, well-drained soil .
Savoy cabbage prefers full sun (level 3) and consistent watering (level 3) . Cool temperatures promote colouring, head density, and a milder taste.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the outer leaves begin to droop and the head is firm to the touch. Store at 0°C , with approximately 95% humidity and good air circulation, for reliable storage of late harvests.
