The 'Success PM Straight Neck' squash develops vigorous , bushy plants with broad, medium-green, slightly rough foliage that provides good ground cover and protects the fruit from excessive sun. The elongated, straight-necked fruits are a bright, uniform yellow , averaging 15 to 18 cm in length, with thin skin and pale, tender, and slightly fibrous flesh . Farming method
Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for up to 24 hours and lightly scarify them to encourage rapid and even germination. Sow 2.5 cm deep , directly outdoors when the soil temperature reaches 25°C , or start seeds indoors 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost . Transplant outdoors in late May or early June , spacing plants 38 to 45 cm apart and rows 60 to 90 cm apart, in rich, loose, and well-drained soil .
Squash prefers full sun (level 3) and regular watering (level 2) , especially during flowering and fruiting. Consistently moist soil promotes consistent production and reduces water stress.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest young fruit for particularly tender flesh, or wait until more mature for a more developed flavor. Ripe fruit has a firm skin that is difficult to cut with a fingernail, as well as a creamy yellow to orange spot on the ground .
