The 'Sweet Granite' melon is a very early-maturing cantaloupe, specially developed for northern climates with short summers. Its oblong fruits, weighing approximately 3 lbs , have juicy, sweet, and aromatic orange flesh . They are ready to ripen when the skin warms in color and the fruit detaches easily from the vine. A reliable heirloom variety, it offers one of the highest success rates in cooler regions, while maintaining excellent flavor.

Farming method
Soak the seeds for up to 24 hours in lukewarm water and lightly scarify them to optimize germination. Sow directly outdoors 1 to 2 weeks after the last frost , or start indoors 4 weeks before planting out . Sow the seeds 1.25 cm deep. Plant in full sun (level 3) with moderate watering (level 2). Space plants 90 to 105 cm apart, with 150 cm between rows. Germination occurs in 4 to 10 days at temperatures between 21 and 30°C .
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the skin warms up and the fruit easily detaches from the stem. Ripe melons can be stored for up to 4 weeks in the refrigerator.
