Creeping Juniper ‘Wiltonii’ (Juniperus horizontalis ‘Wiltonii’). Juniperus horizontalis ‘Wiltonii’, often called ‘Blue Rug’ creeping juniper, is a highly valued ground cover conifer for its bright silvery-blue foliage and exceptionally dense, prostrate habit. This variety is distinguished by its strictly horizontal growth, forming an even plant mat ideal for stabilizing slopes, covering large areas, adorning rock gardens, and structuring beds in full sun. Its persistent, finely textured foliage, pressed to the ground, maintains a sustained bluish tint all year round, which can take on a slight purplish hue in winter.

To plant 'Wiltonii' creeping juniper, choose a suitable exposure: full sun. The recommended soil is: well-drained, even sandy or rocky. Respect the natural silhouette of the conifer and avoid cutting deeply into parts without foliage. Monitor humidity after planting, including in the autumn when the weather is dry. Aeration and drainage are as important as the frequency of watering. Water the root ball before planting it and check that water can drain after planting. During recovery, check the humidity by hand before watering again.
