Application and monitoring

Mode of action

Adult female parasitoid wasps lay eggs in whitefly larvae (second to fourth instar). Parasitism then occurs.

How to recognize its activity

Pupae of Trialeurodes vaporariorum parasitized by Encarsia formosa turn black; pupae of Bemisia tabaci turn brownish. Whitefly pupae parasitized by Eretmocerus eremicus turn yellow; the adult parasitoid wasp is clearly visible inside the parasitized whitefly pupa shortly before emergence.

Application method

  • Open the box carefully in the greenhouse
  • Fold and detach the strips, starting opposite the hanging hole
  • Be careful not to touch the pupae during handling
  • Hang the cards in the crops, if possible about 75 cm from the top of the plant
  • Avoid hanging the cards in places exposed to direct sunlight

Compatibility and responsible use

Pesticides can have direct or indirect effects on beneficial insects and pollinators. Before any chemical treatment, validate its compatibility with the chosen beneficial insect by following the pesticide label and the advice of a qualified specialist. Use only a product authorized for your country, province, and crop, and always comply with local requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What pests or needs does ENERMIX target?
Greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum); tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci).
How to apply ENERMIX?
- Carefully open the box in the greenhouse

- Fold and separate the strips, starting from the opposite side of the hanging hole

- Be careful not to touch the pupae during handling

- Hang the cards in the crops, ideally about 75 cm from the top of the plant

- Avoid hanging the cards in areas exposed to full sun
What dosage of ENERMIX should be used?
The Enermix dosage depends on the climate, crop and whitefly density, and must always be adapted to the specific situation. Begin preventive introduction shortly after crop planting. Introduction rates generally range from 1 to 10 individuals per m² /release. Releases should be repeated at least three times at weekly intervals or until pest control is achieved. Depending on the specific situation, it may be preferable to switch to using En-strip or Ercal. Consult a specialist if pest pressure, crop or conditions require a customized program.
What conditions favor ENERMIX?
Encarsia formosa is most effective in a temperature range of 20-25°C (68-77°F). If the 24-hour average temperature is below 17°C (63°F), whitefly control may be insufficient. For optimal performance of Eretmocerus eremicus, the 24-hour average greenhouse temperature should be at least 20°C (68°F). Eretmocerus eremicus remains active at temperatures above 30°C (86°F).
How should ENERMIX be stored after collection?
1-2 days. 8-10°C (47-50°F). In the dark.
