Family
Oleaceae

Ligustrum vulgare ‘Straight Talk’, known as ‘Straight Talk’ common privet, is a deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub with a narrow and very upright habit, selected for its naturally structured columnar silhouette. Unlike the more spreading traditional privet, this variety maintains a dense vertical form, ideal for narrow hedges, screens, or row plantings. Its glossy dark green foliage forms a compact mass that is easy to prune. In early summer, it produces clusters of small, slightly fragrant creamy-white flowers, followed by purplish-black berries that are popular with birds. Ligustrum vulgare ‘Straight Talk’ tolerates repeated pruning well, along with ordinary well-drained soils and urban conditions. Hardy and adaptable, it is an effective solution for creating a formal hedge or a structural screen in residential landscapes.
