Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina', commonly known as 'Serotina' honeysuckle, is a deciduous climbing vine highly valued for its late blooming and intense fragrance. This vigorous variety produces long, flexible stems that twine around supports like trellises, pergolas, or fences, quickly creating a decorative green screen. During summer and often into early autumn, it is covered with bicolored tubular flowers, reddish-purple on the outside and creamy to pale yellow on the inside. These very fragrant flowers release their scent especially in the evening and attract numerous pollinators. After flowering, small decorative red berries appear, which are enjoyed by birds. Very hardy and adaptable, this vine grows well in ordinary, well-drained soil and prefers sunny to semi-shady locations.
