FamilyRosaceae
TypeTree
Botanical nameRoyalty Penalty
Malus 'Royalty' is an ornamental crabapple with intense purple foliage, highly valued for its spring bloom of deep reddish-purple flowers, which beautifully contrast with the colorful leaves. It then develops small, decorative, persistent dark red fruits that add lasting aesthetic value until winter. Its rounded to slightly spreading habit, moderate resistance to scab, and striking visual impact make it an excellent choice for solitary plantings, ornamental beds, or colorful alignments. The dark purple foliage remains remarkable throughout the season and turns coppery in autumn. It prefers full sun exposure and well-drained soil. 'Royalty' captivates with its dense silhouette, rich foliage, vibrant bloom, and winter fruiting, perfect for creating strong contrasts in the garden.
