Farming method

Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost . Sow seeds 6 mm (¼ in) deep in a light potting mix and keep them consistently moist. Germination usually occurs in 7 to 14 days in warm conditions.

Harden off the seedlings gradually before transplanting. Transplant into the garden or into containers when the soil temperature reaches 18°C (65°F) and all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny , sheltered location in rich, well-drained soil.

Space the plants 45 cm apart , with rows 60 cm apart. Light staking may be helpful, as the branches can become brittle under the weight of the fruit. Maintain regular watering, providing 2.5 to 5 cm of water per week , without overwatering.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvesting begins approximately 75 days after transplanting . The fruits can be picked when fully ripe and yellow for maximum flavor. Regular harvesting encourages the continuous production of new peppers.

Fruits keep well in the refrigerator and are excellent for freezing , cooking or processing .
