Farming method
Start sowing indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost , in a light, well-draining potting mix. Sow at a depth of 6 mm and maintain consistent moisture until germination, which usually occurs in 7 to 14 days .
Once the risk of frost has passed, gradually harden off the seedlings before transplanting. Plant in the garden when the soil temperature reaches at least 18°C , in full sun (level 3) , in a warm, sheltered spot. Space the plants 45 cm apart, with rows approximately 60 cm apart.
Regular watering is essential, about 2.5 to 5 cm of water per week , without overwatering. As the branches can be fragile when the fruit is developing, light staking or a cage is recommended.
Harvesting and maintenance
The fruit ripens approximately 70 to 75 days after transplanting . It can be harvested green or left to fully ripen for a slightly sweeter flavor. Regular harvesting promotes continuous production throughout the season.
