Farming method

Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in spring. The ideal soil temperature for germination is between 10 and 16°C . Prepare loose, well-drained soil free of surface crusts.

Sow at a depth of 1.3 cm , in rows spaced 30 cm apart, then water gently. Germination is rapid and usually occurs in 4 to 7 days . Maintain consistent, but not excessive, moisture throughout the germination period.

When the plants reach a few centimeters and have their first true leaves, thin them to about 5 cm between plants in order to obtain well-formed roots.

For continuous production, sow successively every 7 to 10 days until the summer temperature exceeds 21°C. Sowing can resume at the end of summer for an autumn harvest.

Recommended exposure: Full sun (level 3)
Watering: 2.5 to 5 cm of water per week , regularly and consistently

Harvesting and preservation

Harvesting begins quickly, usually 20 to 25 days after sowing . Harvest the roots when they are young and well-colored to preserve their crisp texture and mild flavor. Do not leave radishes in the ground too long, as they can become fibrous or hollow.

Radishes keep very well in the refrigerator and retain their sweetness for several days after harvesting.
