Farming method

Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Sow 6 mm (1/4 in) deep in a light potting mix and keep the soil consistently moist. Germination usually occurs in 7 to 14 days .

Once the risk of frost has passed and the soil temperature reaches 15°C , gradually harden off the seedlings before transplanting them into the garden. Plant in full sun (level 3) , in rich, loose, and well-drained soil. Space the plants 60 to 90 cm apart, with rows approximately 90 cm apart.

Provide sturdy support from the time of planting. Maintain regular watering, equivalent to 2.5 to 5 cm of water per week , watering at the base of the plant to limit foliar diseases.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvesting begins approximately 70 days after transplanting . Pick the fruit when it is bright red and glossy for optimal flavor. Frequent harvesting promotes continuous production until the first frost.

Tomatoes can be kept for a few days at room temperature and can be used immediately or processed into juice, light sauces or preserves without adding sugar.
