Selected with a clear and deliberate purpose, the 'Ring' onion is a biennial variety grown as an annual, developed to produce thick, regular, and perfectly uniform rings thanks to its single-centered bulb . Its crisp, flavorful red flesh lends itself equally well to the famous crunchy onion rings and a multitude of cooked dishes, where it adds character and sweetness. Developed through the work of Dr. Michael Havey and his students at the University of Wisconsin as part of the USDA Onion Lab research program, 'Ring' is an open-pollinated variety born from years of research in horticultural genetics.
