Planting and maintenance:
Start the seeds indoors 2–3 weeks before planting out. Transplant outdoors in full sun in warm, rich, and very well-drained soil. Space the plants 60–90 cm apart. Water regularly at the base of the plants, avoiding wetting the foliage to reduce the risk of disease. The fruit is ready when the skin becomes reticulated and the stem weakens—at which point it detaches easily.
