Summer squash “Benning's Green Tint” ( Cucurbita pepo ), offered by OSC Seeds

A highly prolific heirloom variety, “Benning's Green Tint” produces attractive, pale green, pie-shaped pattypan squash , measuring approximately 10 x 5 cm . Their creamy white flesh is delicious sautéed, roasted, or stuffed. The open, upright, and bushy plants make harvesting very easy and ensure a consistent yield throughout the warm season.

Propagation: Indoor sowing or direct sowing in late spring
Height/Habit: Bushy
Package size: Approximately 20 seeds
Harvest time: 50 days
Frost tolerance: Killed by frost
Companion plants: Corn, beans, dill
Incompatible plants: Other closely related squash varieties (competition)

Planting and maintenance:
Sow when the soil is thoroughly warmed, or start seeds indoors 2–3 weeks before planting out. Plant in full sun , in fertile, well-drained soil. Bushy plants require moderate space but benefit from good air circulation. Harvest young fruit for a more tender texture and optimal flavor. Water regularly to maintain consistent production.
