The heirloom 'Sweet Meat' squash is known for its large fruits with blue-green or slate-gray rinds, containing deep orange flesh that is very sweet , smooth, and flavorful. It is one of the most popular squashes for autumn and winter dishes: purées, soups, roasts, pies, gnocchi, and pastries. It is also renowned for its long shelf life , able to be stored for several months under good conditions.

Planting and maintenance:
Sow indoors 2 to 3 weeks before planting out, or sow directly when the soil has warmed up. Plant in full sun in rich, well-drained soil. Give the vigorous vines plenty of room. Water deeply, being careful not to wet the foliage. Harvest when the skin is firm and evenly colored, then allow to dry for a few days to extend storage life. Store in a cool, dry, and dark place for exceptional preservation.
