Bright scarlet radish, tender, sweet and ideal for light soil

Scarlet Globe radish ( Raphanus sativus ), offered by OSC Seeds

A heritage variety cultivated since the late 1890s , 'Scarlet Globe' produces superb, glossy, scarlet-red roots with crisp , very sweet , white flesh. Its medium-sized foliage, approximately 7.5 cm , makes harvesting easy. This variety performs particularly well in sandy or slightly dry soils, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of gardens.

Propagation: Direct sowing
Height/Port: Root
Package size: Approximately 400 seeds
Harvest time: 25–30 days
Frost tolerance: Frost resistant
Companion plants: Lettuce, spinach, carrots
Incompatible plants: Other brassicas (competition and pests)

Planting and maintenance:
Sow in full sun in light, loose, well-drained soil. Space rows 20–30 cm apart, then thin to 3–5 cm to encourage even, well-formed roots. Water regularly to maintain a tender texture and prevent bitterness. Harvest early, when the roots are round and bright color.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock.
