Family Ericaceae

Rhododendron ‘Helsinki University’ is a very hardy evergreen shrub, selected for its ability to flower profusely despite harsh winters. This cultivar develops a rounded bushy habit and produces, in late spring, large bright pink flowers with orange-red markings, forming spectacular clusters that attract bees and butterflies. Its glossy dark green foliage, sometimes tinged with red when emerging, provides a decorative presence all year round, even outside the blooming period. Thanks to its exceptional hardiness down to -34 °C, it is perfectly suited to Nordic climates and is an excellent choice for flowerbeds, shady borders, or flowering hedges. It prefers acidic, rich, and well-drained soils, as well as full sun or partial shade for optimal flowering.
