Physocarpus opulifolius 'Center Glow'
Physocarpus opulifolius 'Center Glow', known as 'Center Glow' ninebark, is a highly prized deciduous ornamental shrub admired for the spectacular contrast of its colorful foliage. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush that fits perfectly into informal hedges, shrub beds, and sunny borders. In spring, young leaves emerge in golden yellow hues at the center surrounded by coppery red, creating a unique luminous effect. As the season progresses, the foliage evolves to a deep purplish red while retaining lighter shades within the leaves. In early summer, the shrub produces delicate pinkish-white flowers grouped in rounded corymbs that attract pollinators. After flowering, small decorative reddish fruits appear. Very hardy and easy to grow, this ninebark tolerates ordinary soils and cold climatic conditions well.
