Physocarpus opulifolius 'Golden Nugget', also known as ninebark 'Golden Nugget', is a deciduous ornamental shrub cherished for its bright golden foliage and compact habit. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush that brings a lot of brightness to shrub beds, borders, and sunny flower beds. In spring, young leaves emerge in a vibrant golden-yellow hue that brightens the garden, then transition to a softer greenish-yellow as the season progresses. In early summer, the shrub is covered with small pinkish-white flowers grouped in rounded corymbs that attract pollinators and delicately contrast with the light foliage. After flowering, small decorative reddish fruits appear, extending the plant's visual interest. Very hardy and easy to maintain, this ninebark tolerates ordinary soils, moderate drought, and urban conditions.
