Picea abies 'Tompa'
Picea abies 'Tompa', or Norway spruce 'Tompa', is a very compact dwarf conifer prized for its dense, rounded habit. This variety forms a small, exceptionally tight globular shrub that brings rich, structured texture to rockeries, dwarf conifer beds, and alpine gardens. Its short, dark green needles densely cover the branches, creating a uniform and decorative plant mass all year round. Thanks to its slow growth, this spruce maintains its regular shape for a long time without requiring significant pruning. Very hardy and durable, it adapts well to cold climates and tolerates ordinary, well-drained soils. However, it prefers full sun locations to maintain compact growth and intense foliage color.
