Pieris japonica 'Flaming Silver', known as Japanese Andromeda ‘Flaming Silver’, is a striking evergreen ornamental shrub prized for its variegated foliage and colorful new growth. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush that brings brightness and contrast to woodland gardens and acid-loving plant beds. Its dark green foliage is finely edged with creamy white, illuminating semi-shaded areas throughout the year. In spring, the shrub produces long, pendulous clusters of small, very decorative white, bell-shaped flowers. Shortly after flowering, bright scarlet new shoots emerge, contrasting sharply with the variegated foliage before turning green edged with white. This shrub prefers acidic, organic-rich, well-drained soils and a semi-shaded exposure protected from scorching sun.
