Andromeda of Japan 'Glowing Hearts'

FamilyPinaceae

Pieris japonica 'Glowing Hearts', also known as Japanese andromeda 'Glowing Hearts', is an evergreen ornamental shrub particularly prized for its contrasting blooms and decorative foliage year-round. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush with glossy dark green foliage that provides beautiful structure to woodland gardens and acid-loving plant beds. In early spring, the shrub is covered with long, pendulous clusters of small white bell-shaped flowers with a distinctive reddish-pink heart, creating a luminous and original effect. Young spring shoots may also display bronze to reddish hues before turning dark green. Highly decorative and relatively compact, this shrub prefers acidic soils rich in organic matter and well-drained, as well as a semi-shady exposure protected from scorching sun.
