Japanese Andromeda 'Prelude' (Pieris japonica 'Prelude'). Pieris japonica 'Prelude', also known as Japanese Andromeda 'Prelude', is an ornamental evergreen shrub prized for its early blooms and compact habit, making it particularly suitable for small gardens. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush with glossy dark green foliage that remains attractive throughout the year. In late winter and early spring, the shrub produces numerous pendulous clusters of small, bell-shaped pale to soft pink flowers that brighten up flowerbeds when few other plants are in bloom.

To plant Japanese Andromeda 'Prelude', choose a suitable location: partial shade. The recommended soil is acidic, rich in organic matter, and well-drained. Favor an acidic soil, rich in organic matter, that retains moisture while allowing excess water to drain. Winter winds can dry out the evergreen foliage.
