Pieris japonica 'Scarlet O'Hara', also known as Japanese Andromeda 'Scarlet O'Hara', is an ornamental evergreen shrub highly valued for its spectacular new growth and elegant spring blooms. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush that brings structure and color to woodland gardens and acid-loving plant beds. In spring, the shrub produces long, pendulous clusters of delicate, bell-shaped, pinkish-white flowers. Shortly after flowering, vibrant scarlet-red new shoots emerge, creating a striking contrast with the mature dark green foliage.

To plant Japanese Andromeda 'Scarlet O'Hara', choose a suitable exposure: partial shade. The recommended soil is: acidic, rich in organic matter, and well-drained. Favor an acidic soil, rich in organic matter, that retains moisture while allowing excess water to drain. Winter winds can dry out the evergreen foliage.
