Native to the central plains of North America and naturalized in the east, this bushy, multi-branched plant produces an abundance of bright yellow flowers with brown accents. How to Grow:
Start seeds indoors in early spring using a soilless mix for mid-summer blooms. Germinate at 24 °C for 5–10 days. Grow under lights at a slightly cooler temperature, harden off, and transplant outdoors in a sunny spot. Direct sow seeds mid-May to early June, keeping the soil moist until germination. Once established, thin plants to 30 cm apart in the garden. Plains Coreopsis often self-seeds, ensuring its presence year after year.
