Weeping willow 'Pendula'

Salix caprea 'Pendula', or weeping pussy willow, is a small grafted tree with a very pendulous habit, forming an elegant and structured dome-shaped silhouette. In early spring, long before the foliage appears, it is covered with large, silky, silvery-grey catkins that turn a golden yellow as they mature: a highly prized ornamental effect, especially in male cultivars like this one. The dull green deciduous foliage then appears on the weeping branches. Grafted onto a standard (often at ±1.2 m), it maintains a fixed height and develops a significant width, creating an ideal focal point as a specimen tree, near a pond, or in a border. Very hardy and undemanding, it appreciates fresh to moist soils and tolerates light annual pruning after flowering to maintain its shape.
