Cultivation method
Genoa basil prefers full sun exposure , in light, well-drained soil rich in organic matter . Sow directly in the ground or in pots after the last frost, or start seedlings indoors 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting . Sow 0.5 cm deep , spacing plants 25 to 30 cm apart. Regular but not excessive watering is recommended to avoid water stress and promote abundant foliage. Pinch the flowers as soon as they appear to prolong leaf production.
How to prune basil for a continuous harvest?
? Pinch the end of the stems above a pair of leaves as soon as the plant reaches 15 cm in height . This stimulates branching.
? Always cut stems above a node (where two new leaves grow) to allow side shoots to develop.
? Never harvest more than a third of the plant at a time so as not to exhaust it.
