'Malaga' radish (Raphanus sativus), offered by Ferme Tourne-Sol

The 'Malaga' radish is a unique and spectacular variety producing round, purple roots with crisp white flesh. Sweet, slightly peppery, and very juicy, it adds color and freshness to salads and crudité platters alike.

Quick to grow, very reliable , and perfectly suited to successive sowings, it allows you to harvest radishes throughout spring, summer, and autumn. Its intense purple color is eye-catching and makes it a favorite with both gardeners and chefs.

Farming method

The 'Malaga' radish is sown directly in the ground, in full sun or light partial shade , in light , loose , and well-drained soil. Sow in close rows, then thin to leave 2 to 4 cm between plants, promoting uniform root development.

Keep the soil consistently moist to prevent the radishes from becoming hollow or too pungent. This variety is ideal for successive sowings every 2 to 3 weeks , allowing for a continuous harvest.

Because growth is rapid , it is important to harvest the roots as soon as they reach their optimal size in order to preserve their crisp texture and sweet flavor .

Uses and benefits

The 'Malaga' radish adds a vibrant touch to salads , open-faced sandwiches , bowls, and crudités . Its purple color provides a beautiful contrast, and its white flesh remains mild even in peak season.

Rich in vitamin C , antioxidants , and fiber , it contributes to a healthy diet while adding color and crunch. Easy, quick, and decorative, it's an ideal radish for gardeners of all levels.
