Cultivation method
The Jaune 'Flammée' tomato is easily grown in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil amended with compost . To ensure an abundant harvest, it is advisable to start seedlings indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost , then transplant into the open ground when night temperatures exceed 10°C . As this variety is indeterminate , it requires solid staking to support its vigorous stems laden with fruit.
Spacing each plant 50 to 70 cm apart allows for good air circulation and reduces the risk of disease. Regular watering is essential to keep the soil evenly moist , but not overly so, and applying mulch to the base of the plant helps to conserve moisture and reduce disease. Fruits mature in about 70 days and turn a deep orange-yellow when ready to harvest.
