Hybrid Yew 'Hicksii'

FamilyTaxaceae

Taxus × media ‘Hicksii’ is an evergreen hybrid yew known for its upright habit and high value as a structured hedge. This shrub develops a dense, significantly taller than wide silhouette, ideal for privacy screens, formal plantings, and narrow alignments. Its glossy dark green foliage maintains beautiful intensity throughout the year and tolerates pruning very well, allowing for precise shape control. Unlike the male selection ‘Hillii’, ‘Hicksii’ is a female form that can produce decorative red arils when pollinated. Very hardy and adaptable, Taxus × media ‘Hicksii’ prefers well-drained soil and tolerates both sun and partial shade. It is an excellent choice for durably structuring northern landscape designs.
