Thuja occidentalis ‘Woodwardii’ is a dwarf western cedar valued for its dense, globular habit and fine texture. This evergreen conifer develops a rounded silhouette, becoming wider than tall with age, making it ideal for rock gardens, structured flower beds, and foundation plantings. Its bright green foliage maintains a beautiful intensity throughout the year, sometimes taking on a slight bronze hue in winter depending on the climatic conditions. Naturally compact and well-branched, it requires little pruning to maintain its regular shape. Very hardy and adaptable, Thuja occidentalis ‘Woodwardii’ prefers well-drained soil and a sunny to partially shaded exposure to ensure uniform growth. It is an excellent choice for adding structure, permanence, and balance to northern landscape designs.
