Roseberry Floral Harmony (Tulipa spp.). Roseberry combines fourteen double tulip bulbs in a soft pink, raspberry, and cherry red palette. The very full blooms resemble small peonies and open in mid-spring on strong stems about 45 cm (18 in) tall. Their broad, lance-shaped, slightly bluish foliage forms a subtle base beneath the fruity corollas. These horticultural cultivars belong to the genus Tulipa, family Liliaceae. Grouped together, the flowers create a richly textured scene in romantic beds, pastel borders, and large containers. Their stems are also suitable for refined bouquets, where the closely related shades complement each other without losing their character.
Plant Roseberry from September to November when the soil has cooled but is still workable. Choose full sun or light partial shade and fertile, loose, perfectly drained soil. Place the bulbs tip-up 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6 in) deep and space them 10 to 12 cm (4 to 5 in) apart. Water after planting to settle the soil, then let seasonal precipitation maintain moderate moisture. In pots, use a deep, frost-resistant container with drainage holes. Avoid soggy depressions and nitrogen-rich fertilizers. Distribute the three shades in small, repeated groups to create a natural wave rather than a rigid succession.
After flowering, remove faded flowers before seed production, but let all leaves yellow naturally. This maturation recharges the bulbs and improves their chance of returning, even though many double tulips put on their best show in the first year. Install Roseberry near an entrance, in a romantic border, or in a large pot visible from the house. Pair it with white muscari, cream tulips, and pink Anemone blanda to extend the pastel palette. For bouquets, pick the stems when the buds show their color and leave enough leaves on each plant. All parts, especially the bulbs, are toxic if ingested.
