Tulip mix (Tulipa) ‘Tahitian Sunset’ is a 14-bulb assortment of mid-season single tulips offering a vivid palette inspired by a tropical sunset. The upright flowers combine rich purple, raspberry pink, orange, coral and yellow tones, sometimes blending several shades within a single bloom. Green to blue-green foliage forms a clean base beneath sturdy stems reaching approximately 50 cm (20 in) tall. Flowering occurs in mid-spring and creates a colourful, vertical and highly graphic display. This mixture is especially effective for adding warmth, contrast and rhythm to seasonal plantings, whether used in traditional beds or more contemporary garden designs.
This combination prefers full sun but can tolerate light partial shade in a bright location. Plant the bulbs in light, fertile and well-drained soil to prevent standing moisture around roots and bulbs. In Quebec, plant them from September to November before the ground freezes, approximately 120 to 150 mm deep and 10 to 12 cm (4 to 5 in) apart. Water lightly after planting, then moderately during active spring growth. After flowering, remove faded blooms but allow the foliage to yellow naturally before cutting it back so the bulbs can rebuild their stored energy for the following season. Avoid sites that remain saturated after rainfall or during spring thaw.

The sturdy stems reach approximately 50 cm (20 in) in mid-spring, above green to blue-green foliage. Planted together, the twelve bulbs create a warm and very graphic vertical scene in a bed, a vibrant border, or a large container visible from the house. Plant ‘Tahitian Sunset’ from September to November in cooled, fertile, loose, and perfectly drained soil. Choose full sun or light partial shade, ideally sheltered from strong winds. Place each bulb tip up 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6 in) deep and space them about 10 cm (4 in) apart. Water after planting to settle the soil, then let seasonal precipitation maintain moderate moisture. An irregular arrangement naturally distributes warm and purple colors, while grouped planting enhances the mass effect without appearing too orderly. This maturation allows the bulbs to replenish their reserves, even if several horticultural tulips offer their most regular display in the first year. All parts, especially the bulbs, are toxic if ingested.

In fall, plant the bulbs before the ground freezes in loose, well-drained soil, then water lightly to settle the soil around them. In spring, maintain moderate moisture while leaves and buds develop. A light application of compost or bulb fertilizer can be made when active growth begins. During flowering, harvest stems for bouquets or remove faded blooms. After flowering, leave all green foliage in place until it yellows naturally. Cut it back only when it is completely dry. Reduce watering afterward during summer dormancy and avoid locations where water remains standing after heavy rainfall, as prolonged saturation can damage tulip bulbs.
