'Canadice' Grape

‘Canadice’ Grape (Vitis ‘Canadice’). The Vitis ‘Canadice’, commonly known as ‘Canadice’ grape, is a red seedless table grape variety appreciated for its sweet flavor and good cold hardiness. Its vigorous climbing habit, with strong tendrils, allows it to cover trellises, pergolas, and fences in full sun, while creating a dense plant screen thanks to its bright green deciduous foliage that turns yellow in autumn. It produces medium, well-filled clusters of rosy-red grapes with thin skin, containing a crisp, juicy, and very sweet flesh with a delicate, slightly fruity taste, seedless, ideal for fresh consumption and snacks.

To plant ‘Canadice’ grape, choose a suitable exposure: full sun. The recommended soil is: well-drained, fertile, tolerates slightly sandy. Install support before the stems become long and difficult to guide. Pruning for fruit production depends on the chosen training system. Clear the clusters without excessively removing the foliage, which feeds the plant during their development. Water the root ball before planting and ensure that water can drain after planting. During establishment, check the moisture by hand before watering again. Spread mulch around the base, leaving the collar clear.

Allow a width of 3 m (10 ft) to organize the plant's space in the garden. The indicated height of 5 m (16 ft) helps in choosing its position relative to neighboring plants. Maintain access to the base for weeding, checking moisture, and removing damaged parts. Combine this variety with plants whose light and water needs are compatible. If you are considering a container, first ensure that its volume and drainage are suitable for root development. Roots in pots are more exposed to cold than those planted in the ground.
