‘Catawba’ Grape (Vitis ‘Catawba’). The Vitis ‘Catawba’, commonly known as the ‘Catawba’ grape, is an old variety valued for its fragrant pinkish-red grapes and its versatility in temperate climates. Its vigorous climbing habit, with strong tendrils, allows it to cover trellises, pergolas, and fences in full sun, forming a dense green screen thanks to its deciduous, medium-green foliage that turns yellow in autumn. It produces medium to large clusters of pinkish-red grapes with thick skin, containing juicy, sweet flesh with a pronounced fruity flavor and a characteristic slight musky note.

To plant the ‘Catawba’ grape, ensure suitable exposure: full sun. The recommended soil is: well-drained, fertile, tolerates slightly sandy. Install the support before the stems become long and difficult to guide. Pruning for fruit production depends on the chosen training system. Clear the clusters without excessively removing the foliage, which feeds the plant during their development. Water the root ball before planting and ensure that water can drain after planting. During establishment, check the moisture by hand before watering again. Spread mulch around the base, leaving the crown clear.
