‘Maréchal Foch’ Grapevine (Vitis ‘Maréchal Foch’). The Vitis ‘Maréchal Foch’, commonly known as the ‘Maréchal Foch’ grapevine, is a hybrid grape variety highly prized for its hardiness and quality in winemaking. Its vigorous climbing habit, with twining tendrils, can be easily trained on a trellis or training system in the garden as well as in the vineyard. It produces compact clusters of thick-skinned, blue-black grapes, rich in pigments and aromas, ideal for making colorful red wines with notes of black fruit, cherry, and sometimes spices. Maturity generally occurs in late summer or early autumn.

To plant ‘Maréchal Foch’ grapevines, choose an appropriate exposure: full sun. The recommended soil is: well-drained, slightly fertile. Install the support before the stems become long and difficult to guide. Pruning for fruit production depends on the chosen training method. Clear the grape clusters without excessively removing the foliage, which nourishes the plant during their development. Water the root ball before planting and ensure that water can drain after planting. During establishment, check the soil moisture by hand before watering again. Spread mulch around the base, leaving the crown clear.
