Vitis 'Mitchurinetz'
Vitis ‘Mitchurinetz’, commonly known as ‘Mitchurinetz’ grape, is an extremely hardy hybrid grape variety developed for very cold climates. Its vigorous climbing habit, with twining tendrils, allows for easy training on trellises, pergolas, or espalier systems, both in gardens and vineyards. It produces medium-sized clusters of dark blue to purplish-black grapes with firm skins and juicy flesh, offering a sweet and slightly tart flavor suitable for making juices, jellies, or light red wines. Maturity usually occurs in late summer. Its deciduous, bright green foliage forms a dense canopy during the season and can change color in autumn. Highly resistant to intense cold, Vitis ‘Mitchurinetz’ attracts pollinating insects and is an excellent choice for regions with harsh winters.
