‘Rousseau’ Grape (Vitis ‘Rousseau’). Vitis ‘Rousseau’, commonly known as ‘Rousseau’ grape, is a hardy hybrid grape variety prized for its vigor and reliable production in northern climates. Its vigorous, climbing habit with twining tendrils is perfectly suited for cultivation on trellises, pergolas, or espalier systems in home gardens or vineyards. It produces medium-sized clusters of dark blue to purplish-black grapes with firm skin and juicy flesh, offering a sweet and slightly fruity flavor. Maturity usually occurs in late summer or early fall.

To plant the ‘Rousseau’ grape, choose a suitable exposure: full sun. The recommended soil is: well-drained, slightly fertile. Install the support before the shoots become long and difficult to guide. Pruning for fruit production depends on the chosen training system. Expose the grape clusters without removing excessive foliage, which nourishes the plant during their development. Water the root ball before planting and ensure that water can drain after planting. During establishment, check moisture levels by hand before watering again. Spread mulch around the base, leaving the crown clear.
