Coriander – Coriander herb (Coriandrum sativum), offered by Weston Seeds

?? Much more than just an aromatic herb! ??

Coriander , also called Arabic parsley or Chinese parsley , is an ancient herb used around the world for its distinctive fresh leaves and spicy, citrusy seeds . Known since ancient times, it was cultivated by the Egyptians, used medicinally by the Greeks and Romans, and is now a key ingredient in Asian, Mexican, and Middle Eastern cuisines .

?? One plant, two flavors! The fresh leaves bring a lively and fragrant touch , while the seeds, once dried, reveal a spicy sweetness reminiscent of citrus .

Cultivation method

Sow directly into the ground once all risk of frost has passed . Cover the seeds lightly with a fine sift of soil and keep the soil moist but well drained . To spread out the harvest and prevent the seeds from bolting too quickly , sow new seeds every 2 to 3 weeks throughout the summer.

For indoor starting , sow in pots and transplant the young plants after 10 to 12 days , spacing 30 cm (12 inches) apart .

??? Heat tolerant , this variety is slow to bolt , providing an extended harvest of fresh leaves.

How to use coriander in cooking?

?? Fresh leaves : Add to dishes just before serving to preserve their aroma. Delicious in tacos, curries, salsas, pho and tabbouleh .
?? Dried seeds : Once ground, they release a sweet, lemony flavor, perfect for marinades, breads, pickles and spice blends like garam masala .
?? The roots : Little known, they are highly prized in Thai cuisine for their intense flavor.

Why choose this variety?

?? An essential herb in world cuisine
?? Heat resistant and slow to bolt
?? A two-in-one plant: fresh leaves and aromatic seeds
?? Easy to grow, even in a pot on a balcony
